We designed Chinese Characters lessons for those who have taken some spoken Chinese and want to improve their knowledge of Chinese characters. These lessons will help you gain a better understanding of the Chinese writing system as you learn to recognize, write, and type Chinese characters. There are six levels, explained below, ranging from elementary to advanced.
Level 1: Learn the basic strokes that comprise Chinese characters and master around 150 Chinese characters.
Level 2: Learn more radicals and master 300 practical Chinese characters.
Level 3: Read short Chinese character texts, distinguish similar-looking characters, and master around 600 Chinese characters.
Level 4: Read long Chinese character texts and master around 1200 Chinese characters.
Level 5: Read Chinese magazines and newspapers and master around 2500 Chinese characters.
Level 6: Express opinions using Chinese characters and master over 5000 Chinese characters.
